AUG 22 REDWOOD TANGO ENSEMBLE ALBUM
Redwood Tango Ensemble recently released Prizefighter on Eyes&Ears Recordings. Their North American Tour begins in the fall of 2018. As a recipient of a composition grant through the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music Musical Grant Program, Bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski wrote six new pieces for the ensemble that push the musicians in wildly new directions, and that look to bridge the gap between contemporary tango and original/local chamber music composition.

JUL 25 HURD ENSEMBLE AT KENNEDY CENTER!
Performing original music by San Francisco-based composer George Hurd, The Hurd Ensemble, selected by Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates, unifies the worlds of electronic and classical music. All the music is written for string quartet (violin, viola, cello, upright bass), piano, and electronics, meticulously bound together with digitally arranged sounds collected from Hurd’s travels. FEB 26 HURD ENSEMBLE RECORD RELEASE
As a 5 year member of the Hurd Ensemble, Elyse is featured prominently in the new album out on Innova Recordings February 26. Filled with amazing performances from San Francisco and Chicago-based players, the record was also mixed by award-winning engineer and film composer Mark Orton (Nebraska, The Good Girl, My Old Lady).
FEB 21 STEEL&HAMMERS AT MILK BAR
Steel&Hammers will be joined by MC Squadda B, one half of acclaimed duo Main Attrakionz for an encore performance of their debut in Oakland last November. Be on the lookout for new releases of the original music and rhymes they are cooking up!
MAR 13 WORLD PREMIERE AT C4NM
San Francisco-based pianist Elyse Weakley performed music for piano and electronics by celebrated composers Mason Bates and Anna Clyne, and included the world premiere of George Hurd’s piece, Vivarium. Weakley is a champion of new music in the Bay Area and beyond, and has performed innovative new music for piano around the world including the 2013 Atlantic Music Festival, and the 2012 Switchboard Music Festival.
